Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. Iron core with silver frame. Early example made by Klein & Quenzer, still without the maker's stamp "65" in the ring. Silver stamp "800" on the reverse below the eyelet. The ring also stamped "800". On the unassembled original ribbon.

Interior with black velvet inlay, the inner lid with white artificial silk lining. With official seal of the Army Personnel Office and original signature of Generalleutnant Burgdorf.Accompanied by the roll of honour naming the Knight's Cross award to First Lieutenant Hielscher.German Cross in Gold. Made of tombac, by Deschler, Munich. The wreath gilded on a red enamelled ring. The swastika enamelled black (enamel chip). Reverse fitted with pin for wearing with maker's mark "1".
