Erwin Fischer Showing his Ritterkreuz to Comrades

Original period press picture showing Oberleutnant Erwin Fischer (right, Flugzeugführer in 1.(Fern) Staffel / Aufklärungsgruppe 121), newly awarded Ritterkreuz, showing his medal box to his comrades. Fischer had been awarded the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes for his successful achievement as a reconnaissance pilot on all fronts. You can see him here after the presentation of the high award in the circle of his comrades, who heartily wished him a good cheer. The picture was taken by Kriegsberichter Petertil on 29 May 1941. Fischer himselft received the news for his presentation on 21 April 1941. He would received the Eichenlaub for his Ritterkreuz on 8 February 1943.
