Ritterkreuz Ceremony for Helmuth Reichel

 

April 1944: Ritterkreuz award ceremony for Major Helmuth Reichel (Kommandeur II.Bataillon / Füsilier-Regiment 26 / 30.Infanterie-Division). The medal was presented by Generalleutnant Hans von Basse (Kommandeur 30. Infanterie-Division). Reichel himself received the radio news of his awarding on 6 April 1944.

Helmuth Reichel in the Wehrmacht and Bundeswehr

Helmuth Reichel (11 September 1912 - 4 April 2004) received the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes on 6 April 1944 as Hauptmann and Kommandeur II.Bataillon / Füsilier-Regiment 26 / 30.Infanterie-Division. He reached the rank of Obesrtleutnant in the end of war. After the Second World War he serve with the Bundeswehr from 1956 until 1974, reaching the rank of Oberst.
