Admiral Dr.h.c. Erich Raeder, the new Chef der Marineleitung (Chief of the Naval Command), in the first day in the office, 4 October 1928. He was promoted to the Admiral rank and made chief of the Weimar Republic Navy three days previously, on 1 October 1928.
