Ritterkreuz Actions of Generalmajor Alois Weber

Alois Weber (26 July 1903 – 19 June 1976) received the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes #695 on 26 November 1941 as Major and Kommandeur I.Bataillon / Infanterie-Regiment 19 / 7.Infanterie-Division. The medal was awarded for his achievements during the fighting at Godunovo in mid-October 1941. As part of the German efforts to construct a bridgehead at Wereja on 17 October 1941 Weber and his battalion managed to seize the Hill 204 in spite of a simultaneous Soviet armoured attack. He then held this position for two days against heavy attacks with minimal friendly support. By this action he played a major role in the defense of the German crossings over the Protva and consequently the expansion of this bridgehead that followed, and was duly recognized for this success.

Weber received the Eichenlaub #579 for his Ritterkreuz on 10 September 1944 as Oberst and Kommandeur Grenadier-Regiment 61 / 7.Infanterie-Division. The medal was awarded for his distinguished leadership from December 1943 to August 1944, and in particular for his Kampfgruppe's successes in attack and defensive between the Bug and Narew rivers during August 1944.
