Ritterkreuz Actions of Maximilian Felzmann

Maximilian Felzmann (22 April 1894 - 8 June 1962) received the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes #2365 on 28 November 1943 as Generalmajor and Kommandeur 251. Infanterie-Division. On 25 September 1943 previously, from its positions 120 km south of Gomel, the 251. Infanterie-Division prevented a Soviet breakthrough despite having been reduced to a strength of just 5000 men! This action resulted in the Division being named in the Wehrmachtbericht of the 29 October 1943, as well as the award of the Ritterkreuz to its commander Generalmajor Felzmann.

Felzmann received the Eichenlaub #643 for his Ritterkreuz on 3 November 1944 as Generalleutnant and Kommandeur Korps-Abteilung E. The medal was awarded for his bitter defense of, and breakout from, Brest-Litovsk. He and his troops defended the city for three days against two-and-a-half Soviet armies. Following this Generalleutnant Felzmann broke out of the city on the 27 July 1944 while saving 75% of his troops.
