Wehrmacht officers with the captured French officers in the summer of 1940. With hand in the back is Generalleutnant Johann Pflugbeil (Kommandeur 221. Infanterie-Division), while the older officer in the middle is General der Infanterie Alfred Wäger (Kommandierender General XXXIV. Armeekorps). In June 1940 the 221st Infantry Division crossed the Rhine at Marckolsheim and occupied Colmar in Alsace. From August 1940 to March 1941 the division was inactive.Source :
