Wilhelm List received an indictment from Colonel Charles Mays (Marshall of Military Tribunals), while watching beside him is Maximilian von Weichs. This photo was taken on May 12, 1947, before the start of the so-called "Hostage Trials" in Nuremberg (held from July 8, 1947 to February 19, 1948), which is the trial for the ex high-ranking German officers on the Balkan and Scandinavian Fronts accused of committed war crimes. Former Generalfeldmarschall List and Weichs were two of 12 officers scheduled to be tried in front of the judge, but his deteriorating health led to Weichs being released before the trial even begun.
