Officers of SS-Panzer-Regiment 2 "Das Reich" in Erlangen (1943)

Officers of I.Abteilung / SS-Panzer-Regiment 2 / SS-Panzergrenadier-Division "Das Reich" posed together in a picture taken in Erlangen, Bavaria, 1943. From left to right: SS-Untersturmführer der Reserve Karl Mühleck (Zugführer in 2.Kompanie / SS-Panzer-Regiment 2. Later received the Ritterkreuz on 4 June 1944), SS-Obersturmführer Joachim-Günther Schöntaube (Chef 2.Kompanie / Panzer Regiment 2, with one Panzervernichtungsabzeichen which he received when he was still with the recon unit), SS-Hauptsturmführer Herbert Kuhlmann (Führer I.Abteilung / SS-Panzer-Regiment 2. Later received the Ritterkreuz on 13 February 1944), SS-Hauptsturmführer Friedrich Holzer (Chef 1.Kompanie / SS-Panzer-Regiment 2. Later received the Ritterkreuz on 10 December 1943), SS-Untersturmführer Josef Zacharias (Zugführer in 1.Kompanie / SS-Panzer-Regiment 2), and SS-Untersturmführer Lorenz Emmerling (Zugführer in 3.Kompanie / SS-Panzer-Regiment 2).
