Ritterkreuz award ceremony for Oberleutnant Karl Philipps (Chef 5.Kompanie / II.Bataillon / Panzergrenadier-Lehr-Regiment 901 / Panzer-Lehr-Division), which were held on 7 April 1944. Awarding the medal is Generalmajor Fritz Bayerlein (Kommandeur Panzer-Lehr-Division). Philipps had been the commander of the 5th Company of Pz. Gren. Rgt. 901 until 25 June 1944 at which time he became commander of the first Battalion of that regiment. He was likely promoted at that time from Oberleutnant to Hauptmann.
