SS-Sturmbannführer Max Wünsche (Kommandeur I.Abteilung / SS-Panzer-Regiment 1 / SS-Panzergrenadier-Division "Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler") in a series of photos taken during the Third Battle of Kharkov in Ukraine, March 3, 1943. In these photos he wore a distinctive Russian fur hat called ushanka, with added Totenkopf and SS Adler pin. He also wore the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes, which he received on 28 February 1943.
